Teens Jiu Jitsu
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) isn’t just for adults. In fact, it’s the perfect activity for teens! Our Teens Jiu Jitsu has gained a lot of attention in recent years, and it’s pretty obvious why. BJJ stands apart from other martial arts due to its focus on grappling, rather than the kicking and punching that characterize disciplines such as Karate and Taekwondo. BJJ is known to improve fitness levels, prepare its practitioners for situations requiring self-defense, and relieve stress.

The Benefits Of Martial Arts
If your child is excited to wear that “cool martial arts gear,” be sure to sign them up for Gi Jiu Jitsu! Unlike No-Gi BJJ, those practicing Gi BJJ wear a kimono, pants, and a belt denoting skill level. But don’t be fooled – the clothes aren’t just for looks! In Gi Jiu Jitsu you can grab your opponent’s kimono during grappling. This style has a slower pace with more time to think through each move.
Self Defense
As a parent, your priority is keeping your child safe. That’s why we are so passionate about equipping teens with the invaluable self-defense skills that BJJ provides. While all forms of Jiu Jitsu prepare students for real-life altercations and provide essential lessons on how to protect oneself, No-Gi Jiu Jitsu takes self-defense to another level. No-Gi Jiu Jitsu is unique in its ability to mirror situations students could potentially face in the real world, due to its uniform of regular clothing and its utilization of faster-paced grappling.
Provides A Safe Environment
Preparing to defend oneself against an attacker sounds scary, but we promise to make sure that your child feels comfortable and safe throughout the entire process. We enforce a strict policy of acceptance, respect, and care for others that are incorporated into everything we do – whether it’s student-instructor interactions, warm-ups, sparring, or student friendships. From day one, we encourage students to express any questions and concerns they may have. We believe that communication is the key to creating a healthy and uplifting training environment.
Improves Health and Fitness
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu contributes significantly to mental toughness, instills the value of hard work, and cultivates the persistence essential for daily life. Numerous members at CGWC have expressed that BJJ serves as an excellent stress reliever from academic or professional pressures, enabling them to divert their attention away from challenges and concentrate solely on executing techniques on the grappling mat. This martial art demands enduring physical effort to execute a diverse array of grappling maneuvers throughout the entirety of a class. Active mental engagement in BJJ sessions ensures a unique and comprehensive workout experience that distinguishes itself from other forms of exercise.
Creates Community
From the moment a child steps into our building, they will be met with a supportive and inclusive environment of instructors and fellow students who want them to succeed. Because students regularly spar with each other in class, you may be surprised to learn just how strong the friendships in our BJJ classes are. Jiu Jitsu teaches teens the thrill of winning as well as the humility of losing, and we make sure our students respect each other throughout all the highs and lows of their training.
Variety Workouts/Stress Relief
Martial Arts helps build mental toughness, teaches the value of hard work, and gives you the persistence you need in everyday life. Many members at CGWC have said that Martial Arts is also a great stress relief from school or work because it helps take their mind off problems they are facing so they can focus all their thoughts on striking the target in front of them. It is a workout where you have to have the endurance to execute all the various kicks and punches until the end of class. By engaging your brain during class, Martial Arts can help provide a completely different workout that you won’t find anywhere else.
